Well, if McDavid, Draisaitl and RNH all play centre maybe. But they never do. And Draisaitl hasn't really shown to have excelled at centre. His best days have been on wing. And now they are playing RNH on wing.
Based on what appears to be their current mode, McDavid is better than Monahan, but is Draisaitl a better C than Backlund? Over the course of their careers, I'd say no, but in any event it's not a clearcut advantage. Then you are looking at Strome and Khaira versus Jankowski/Ryan/Lindholm/Bennett (whoever gets centre). I'd put any two of Calgary's possible centres up over Strome/Khaira.
