So lots of ideas in this thread, but what is the best strategy?
Option 1: ride out the current tandem with Rittich taking the lead for 2/3 games and see what happens
Option 2: Big game hunting - try to get Bob (with extension). Will result in loss of assets which the team cannot really afford and create a cap crunch next year.
Option 3: Seek a band-aid solution - Schneider, Howard, Anderson, Halak. Goalies nearing the end of their career and presently acting as backups or 1Bs. Won't cost a lot and could stabilize the team through this season.
Option 4: Seek undervalued or blocked assets - Lehner, Dell, Grubauer, Jarry. Goalies entering their peak...may cost a bit but potential to be a solution for years to come.
Knowing Treleving, he will probably go with Option 1 until an opportunity appears for Option 4 closer to the deadline. We can dangle Jankowski or Killington (who is also blocked on the LD) plus a salary dump (Stone, Smith).
If we are forced to stick with Option 1 for the season, we won't make it far. Hopefully this off-season we can pick up Talbot.
