All oil bashing/glorifying aside...I do worry that Alberta's economy is so linked to oil that any swing the price of the commodity blows our economy around. Also, I'm not sure that
A: the internal combustion engine will be the dominant design for transportation for a long time and
B: that Alberta's oil will be price competitive (if increased environmental costs are factored into production)
Get all frothy if you want, but we should exploit the oil sector for all its worth now and (most importantly) use that to transform our economy into something else.
The oil gravy train is a limited time offer IMHO...Lougheed knew this
