CSA has been incompetent for decades.
There certainly are challenges for soccer in this country. That said, for 12 years they were right in the mix in the region.
They choked in the last couple games of qualification in 1982, same in 1990, and was a home win away from making it in 1994.
Jamaica, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica were minnows and an easy win in those days for the most part. They really blown past Canada since that point.
The CSA has used every excuse since. Mismanaged youth programs and development, focus on the politics and keeping power, and then when that faction of Ontario or Quebec coaches and technical advisors and money guys, or whoever is pulling the strings, gets booted, another faction takes over and thinks they have all the answers and get their guys into the CSA.
There have been countless 5 year plans, all with a lot of text and not a lot of action, as they were more exercises in proving how smart the current power regime is then the others.
Some guy hired Zambrano. He was doing ok as a coach. He wasn’t doing other things around development. So then who pulled the strings to convince the CSA to hire him guy was no longer in power so the other power brokers in the CSA made the change like its high school.
It’s the most public display of incompetence, but it’s an annual internal thing.
Jason DeVos was supposed to get in there upon his hire and bring transparency...he he said anything yes or has he gotten pulled in as part of the political webs spun?
