Lots to see and do in Seattle -- we also got the City Pass the first time we went (albeit 10+ years ago). Also check out the outlet mall in Tulalip -- if you show your Alberta drivers license you don't have to pay state sales tax (this applies anywhere in Washington State). Seattle Zoo is also pretty good (not sure how much admission is though).

You also mentioned its your first time out of the country -- if you're driving you'll need your passport but your kids can just use their birth certificates.
Update on the sales tax exemption part - Starting July 1, 2019 Alberta residents still get tax exemptions, but will have to submit receipts to the government to get a refund, stores won't be able to take off the sales tax on the spot anymore.
