The smart thing for the Cowboys is to look at who they feel is going to be part of next year’s team and try to move anyone who doesn’t look like long term solutions (ie Zeke, Tony Pollard, some DL, and some DBs) and try to get some draft capital to address the glaring weaknesses on OL and WR.
Going out and trading for a QB will be costly in terms of draft picks and will subsequently hurt their chances of addressing their real gaps.
This season is likely lost regardless of who they bring in at QB. The Cowboys were looking to be more competitive next year and the year afterwards as they likely would have more cap space so maybe it’s best to go out and be proactive to make the team better for those years instead of trying to put bandaids on an arterial bleed.
