I think with the power play they are still working things out, because it seems to me to have some different looks in every game. After the Nashville game I thought the Flames were depending too heavily on Gaudreau to carry the puck in. Last night there were other puck carriers on his unit. The entries and puck movement were very good, but I really didn’t like how Gaudreau was setting up as the shooter. That was new, and I hope it doesn’t last.
There were other small pieces of the pp where you could see them tinkering, I think. Lindholm in back-to-back plays tried to feed Tkachuk for a power-move goal on the corner, which made no sense to me. But even despite the lack of results I like what I am seeing for the most part, and the pp should have been 1/4 by the end of the night: that save by Varlamov on Gaudreau’s feed to Tkachuk in the second was all world.
