Very sad to hear. My wife and I lost our first child (stillborn at full term) back in 2010; now almost eight years later, it is still hard and you think about them virtually every day.
Even now (two kids later and another due in June), we still have a hard time getting really excited during pregnancy - we have just seen and experienced a little too much. Heart definitely goes out to the guy.
