But he was ranked 18th in save percentage for starters, and the team was ranked 18th overall in save percentage.
The team couldn't score enough goals to win games, but Smith wasn't the runaway MVP either.

I recall the Flames giving up a lot of high percentage scoring chances especially in the first few months of the season that didn't help his numbers and since that 6 game winning streak ended whether it be fatigue or injuries there's no doubt his game started to drop off but he really did hold this team in a lot of games to get them to a point where they were in a playoff spot with their fate in their hands. This team hasn't played well defensively all season and it's hard to imagine any goaltender putting up top 5 numbers on this team.
