That only feels like an abnormal coincidence if you also believe that the films are about any one of the trillions of random inhabitants of the galaxy.

It feels like a whole lot less of a coincidence through the lens of a series of films about a specific family. Even if Rey isn't part of that family, she is now connected to it by her association with Han/Chewie and her force powers etc.

It would be a pretty boring movie if they made it all about that other orphan who knew who her parents were and it turned out they were regular old crop farmers on Dantouine VI, with no association with the alliance, the force or the Skywalkers, and she lived to old age with hardly a commotion in her life and died peacefully in the arms of her family.
