my opinion says he does. he deserves it for his on ice play for the team.

I'm not going to refuse to forgive him, or condemn for life a guy who has had trouble fighting his demons.

and hey. even without his problems, he still might have been a dick, I don't know.
he can still be a jerk and one of the most amazing players I've watched. especially for his size in the era he played.

obviously many see him in a different light and not worthy of recognition. I get that. at least if the flames made a number retirement contingent on HHOF admittance, they could kick that can down the road.

I think iggy is the only player you'll ever have consensus on.

heck some people think lanny doesn't deserve his number retired. that's crazy to me.

my number retirement criteria would be
1) in the hockey hall of fame.
2) played for the flames longer than any other team, with a minimum 5 years.
3) if not with flames in their absolute prime, should have a flames cup win on their resume.
