These are the only two truly iconic Calgary Flames. Their names and images are synonymous with the team, and their contributions on the ice were matched or exceeded by their contributions and involvement in the greater community. Class acts in every sphere.
I get that Lanny McDonald's involvement in the Flames community has been exceedingly enormous, but based strictly on hockey contributions to Calgary Flames, his numbers pale in comparison to guys like Fleury, Newy and MacInnis.

And Vernon has had zero involvement with the Flames since he retired.
