I get and appreciate Manoah wanting to start the 9th. However, the game was still really close and Romano pitches best when he has a clean start to the inning. If Manoah gives up a hit or walk, Romano will have to come in with the tying run batting and it just isn’t a recipe for success.
I’d have preferred to have Romano warming up and say to Manoah after he comes out, “if we score another run or two, will get you back in.”
