Custer State Park just south of Rapid City is pretty good. Good chance of seeing wildlife (Buffalo and donkeys, mostly, as I recall).

There are several drives to do in that area (the Needles Highway, I believe).

Don't overlook Wind Cave and Jewel Cave either--one is a National Park and another is a National Monument.

Might be worth a detour to Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming too.

The Crazy Horse memorial is totally not worth a visit.
