The Mavericks played their 1st of 2 against the Cincinnatti Cyclones this weekend. With an emotional overtime 7-6 win and Mike Panowyk earning a hat trick to end the game. The Cyclones sit at 2nd in the league with 52 points. Corey Durocher and Jordan Klimek were both activated from the IR today and both netted one in tonight's game.

Ben Halford got the start between the pipes but unfortunately let in 3 goals in the first period of the game. A couple bad hops that he couldn't have done anything about but also lack of effort from the defense would be the cause of these goals.

I am curious to find out what the chat was between the first and second period because the Mavericks score 5 unanswered goals in the second frame and stun Cincinnatti. Mavericks goals came from Panowyk, Panowyk again, Klimek, Fischer and Cooper in that order. Zach Fischer has been another interesting story as of late as he has been starting to find his footing with this team. He has put up a goal in the last 2 games and was very involved in some of this game's biggest plays.

In the third, the Cyclones got their 4th goal, tied it then the Mavericks got their lead back. Unfortunately in a broken play in the last minute and a half got Cincinnatti another one and this game would not be decided in regulation. Willie Raskob got a break in overtime and threw the puck on net with Mike Panowyk on the doorstep to tap in the loose puck for the win.

The Mavericks retire their first number tomorrow night and will take the ice against the Cyclones once again.
