I think there is too much of a focus on finding the next kipper, we don't actually need to find the next kipper, just someone who can be a top 10 -15 goalie in this league year in year out who is also under 30 years old.

That's what Kiprusoff was.
He had two lights out seasons, two seasons of .920/2.30 GAA play, and then he had a bunch of average seasons as well.
Which is all you can ask from a goalie.
Mike Smith's biggest issue is his health. He's a fantastic goalie when he's healthy. If the Flames can keep his starts to the low 50s, or even better, one of the backups is able to play 40+, the team is in good shape.
If this team has All Star Mike Smith, they should be expected to win playoff rounds.
