I lost my previous IT job in May but it was a good opportunity for a change. When you apply for EI, you can sign up for the job bank notifications. I get a couple of notifications for IT positions every day. LinkedIn is sending them as well.
The positions at the managed service providers (Longview, Scalar, Graycon) are always in flux with people coming and going so you could apply there as well and let them connect you with the clients they need help with.
