I think the third reason could be money as well. Simmons comes with a max contract already in place and they could walk away from Oladipo rather easily.
The pick swaps likely will come in handy considering Harden and Durant are in their 30’s and might not even be in the league in 26,27 when the Rockets still own the pick/swap rights.
