For the first time in two seasons, the Carolina Hurricanes became buyers and not sellers

The Hurricanes sit 23 overall in the league in goals, it's only a matter of time before that catches up with the Canes and that playoff window closes for the year

It was time to dip into that prospect pool and speed up development a wee tad. With covid slowing down things and expectation of prospects pencilled to make a jump to the NHL. Not having those ratings next season was going to be a huge setback.

In acquiring Alex Debrincat the Hurricanes acquire a scoring winger that has the ability to keep up with Matthew Barzal. Alex also fits into the team's core widow age of 20-23

The downside is giving up on Podkolzin and Kaut so soon. But one of the reasoning for acquiring so many prospects the past couple of years was that I wouldn't hold the team's future on high picks. Successful teams in this league were fluid with their prospects, and squeezing the life out of them really ever works out. Plus there are no rules against acquiring them back in the future

Really interested to see what the next 10 games hold for the Canes, and what direction trade wise this leads us towards

Thanks Knut, it's always fun
