Don't forget the fact that Ryan reliably produces more than 3 times as many points as Nordström while being better defensively. Say what you will about plus/minus, but Nordstrom was a -6 on a Presidents Trophy-winning Boston team. Ryan was a +9 on a Flames team that barely made the playoffs.
In fact, Ryan was 7th on the Flames in points per 60 minutes among regular players. 1.759. Not much lower than Backlund and Mangiapane.
Nordstrom was 24th on the Bruins with 0.723 points per 60.
