I can't imagine there are that many in prison for simple possession. Hopefully extremely close to zero. So that leaves growers, traffickers etc, all of which will still be illegal under the new laws unless done within the framework of the law, which at the time of their crime, would not have been. I don't see how you would have a case to challenge your conviction under the new law.
