Well honestly, that changes things a bit.
A 2500k -> 8600k is a pretty massive difference. That's more than an adequate distance between CPU gens to merit an upgrade.
More than anything I'm just lamenting that Intel's pricing dips by like 50$ max when each new gen comes out, and less about the cost of the deal itself.
I would strongly consider it if I were you, especially with a modern board being able to take advantage of things like DDR4 and M.2 drives.
