Default Wild sign Winnik to PTO

Quote:
Veteran forward Daniel Winnik will attend Minnesota Wild training camp on a professional tryout (PTO), the team announced on Tuesday morning. He joins Ryan Malone as the second veteran player the Wild have invited to training camp.

Winnik, 32, played 72 games with the Washington Capitals last season and finished with a career-high 12 goals and 13 assists. He has also spent time with the Arizona Coyotes, the Colorado Avalanche, the San Jose Sharks, the Anaheim Ducks, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Because he’s in training camp on a PTO, the Wild can cut Winnik at anytime with no penalty. That said, it seems Winnik will be given a good opportunity to make the team.

“He’s a heckuva player,” coach Bruce Boudreau said. “He was good for Washington last season. He’s one of the better penalty killers in the league. We don’t know where it’s going to end up. He’s a good guy to have in training camp, though.”
Well...he's got a better chance to make it than most of the other team's NHL PTO invites. Also, can't believe Ryan Malone is still trying one last kick at the can.
