It's horrifying. Since we moved to a different area of the city, shopping around for vets has not been fun at all. Most will gouge on exams, "consultation fees" or medication prices.

Your best bet is to call around for prices, especially if it is something specific - we are getting our dog neutered and we got quotes from the lowest $295.00 to upwards of $900.00 for the exact same procedure. It's amazing there can be so much price variance for such a standard procedure. But that is what happens when an industry relies on emotion, hidden fee structures and no real ability to comparison shop.

Vet care in this province is starting to look a lot like the US health care system.
