Glenfarclas is fine, but I don't find it to be too spectacular. However, if you're just getting into scotch, it's a good introductory one. Sample a MacAllan 12 or 15 as a base scotch. It satisfies almost any palette AFAIK.
Not necessarily on topic, but my wife bought me an advent scotch calendar, and so far, it's been amazing. A unique single malt from Sweden has been the highlight, but everything has been very tasty so far. Nothing younger than 18 years, which is very nice. I'll provide updates if I stumble upon anything noteworthy.
