I wonder if Gillies was given any consideration for the third-string goalie job?
Gillies and Lindgren had similar stats in the NHL this year (Gillies with the better GAA and Lindgren better SV%), but Gillies had much better stats in the AHL.
Also, Lindgren has never played for the USA internationally before while Gillies played in both the Hlinka Tournament and the World Jrs.
