He's had multiple good years at different levels in Russia. I doubt he agreed to a contract to come over to North America unless the Flames gave him some reason to think he has a chance to make the NHL. He's certainly not coming over to play in the ECHL, so I assume the Flames see him as at least fighting for the starting job in the AHL. Gillies can't go to the ECHL, as he's on a one way NHL contract, so I'm not sure where that even leaves Parsons. If the Flames were as high on Parsons as CP is, I don't know why they sign Zagidulin in the first place.
Unless the Flames plan to buyout Gillies and run Stockton with Zagidulin and Parsons. Nick Schneider is also under contract and put up good AHL numbers last year. Seems like there are too many goalies in the organization. Something has to give.
