It's a good community of people generally. It's not an easy program, so those that have been through it want to help you out and get you through it too.
In terms of what to expect - just don't worry about it too much. The people you are working with will know how to start you off and you'll just go from there. For most its literally starting at knowing nothing and you slowing just start acquiring knowledge. It might seem daunting at first but don't be afraid to ask lots of questions along the way.
