Mavericks host the Tulsa Oilers for game 5. With the series tied at 2, they will definitely be playing at least one game on the road. Game 6 and 7 are set to be at Tulsa on Tuesday the 23rd, and Wednesday the 24th.

Mason McDonald unsurprisingly gets the start with Schneider backing him up on the bench. Coincidental penalties are called before the puck even drops and Darian Dziurzynski and Ryan Tesink get sent to the box and the game starts off 4 on 4. No scoring through the first but a lot of physical play. A penalty is given here and there but nothing did damage. Even after the horn sounded, Ryan Tesink stirred up more trouble and got himself a penalty to start the second period. Mavericks get a power play to begin the second and trail 10-11 in shots.

The second period does not start with the same heat as the first but about seven minutes in, Jared VanWormer finds the back of the net on a redirected shot from Nate Widman. The goals don't stop as Tulsa answers back and starts a string of three goals in 1:05. They get their's, Loren Ulett scores 12 seconds later, and Tulsa scores again 48 seconds later. The game stays tied at two until Corey Durocher scored at 16:02 to put the Mavericks up 3-2. 1:36 later, Darian Dziurzynski scores his first goal of the series and the Mavs finish up this period ahead 4-2 on the scoreboard and tied in shots at 22.

Tanner Kaspick of the Oilers works to close the gap and gets a goal back for the visiting opponents. Mavericks still ahead 4-3 but need to keep the control of this game to avoid a repeat of last night. Tulsa thought they had a goal at the halfway point of this period but the referee immediately waves it off. The goal is reviewed and still waved off. Mavericks catch a break on that one. Tulsa pulls their goalie with 1:34 to go in regulation and do not get their needed goal back. Mavericks win game five 4-3. Shots end 33-26 for the Oilers.
