Banff would see the lights about as often as Calgary does.

There is no gaurentee to see them, it depends on the sun. Going in the winter is a good idea as it's darker for longer.

Watch that green ring on the first page I sent, it will give you a general idea how far south you need to be to see them.

If I had to pick a place in Canada it would be somewhere more east then Whitehorse, something closer to the Atlantic. They are in the green ring more often than places out west
