Statistically it depend on the success rates of 2 point conversions.
If it's greater than 50% that you will successfully convert then you should go for it because that means the likelihood is that you get the 2 points and have a 2 score game.
But if it's less than 50% I guess the play would be to kick the field goal, take the 8 point lead, and force them to have to convert on a 2 pt conversion.
