It's not like this is some massive government project that will take a lot of time and money. It's a vote in the legislature, to codify a policy that they are already following. Eliminating grey areas in laws/policing, and changing a policy, that can easily be changed/forgotten, into a law, that requires some effort to change, is intrinsically valuable, assuming you think it is good policy, which in this case I do.
No it’s a good idea, treat this as a health issue vs criminal matter. However, I do believe there should be some sort of rehab required. Not sure what it looks like but the current efforts to deter drug use/get people off it clearly aren’t working.
