I haven't been a big fan of the "Forever a Flame" stuff. I believe the only things that should be hung from the rafters are retired jerseys and team accomplishments (Stanley Cup Banners, President's Trophies, etc).

What I would think would be kind of cool to see as a fan is something like a "Hall of Flames" - kind of like a hall of fame. When a team honors you, they hang a framed life-size photo of you in a specific hall, along with your accomplishments as a Flame at the bottom. Of course retired jersey players should also be included here. Maybe instead of a portrait, you frame a game-worn jersey here, or something like that.

I think in this way you celebrate a player's accomplishments in the organization, but you aren't sort of mimicking a jersey retirement by hanging something up in the rafters. It always feels like a half-measure to me raising a 'Forever a Flame' banner.
