The Mavericks face off against the Wichita Thunder tonight. Adam Carlson gets the start. Energetic start by the Mavs as they pepper the Wichita goalie with shots. Through the first half Carlson only sees 1 shot on net. At the other side of the rink the Mavs register 7 shots through 10 mins. They are rewarded a power play and only register 1 shot. Mavs get tested on the PK after Shawn Pauly is dealt a tripping call and the kill it with ease. Not allowing Wichita to register a single shot in their man advantage. The 1st ends without a goal and shots 11-6 favouring KC.

In the 2nd, Bryce Aneloski gets one of the best chances of the game as he rips a slap shot from the blue line but it rings off the post. The Thunder get their own chance off a post and the Mavs follow up with a shot off the post that they hack away at but don't find the back of the net. They go on their 2nd penalty kill and make it much harder for themselves when they take a delay of game penalty just seconds later. Both penalties are killed off and the score stays at an even 0. They go on a power play and Bryce Aneloski tries another hard shot from the blue line that Jared VanWormer chips in off the rebound. VanWormer was buzzing all game and has been the most consistent Mav down the stretch for the playoff race. He has really stepped up and almost found his 2nd goal just a couple minutes after his first. In the last minute he breaks off into a partial breakaway and is denied blocker side. Shots end 32-13 after 2 periods of play.

18 seconds into the 3rd the Thunder tie the game up when they catch the Mavs on a slow start and a lazy play. Shawn Pauly takes another penalty and the Mavs find themselves on the penalty kill with momentum already shifting away from them at an alarming rate. They kill off the penalty and fresh out of the box Shawn Pauly scores! The Mavs regain a one goal lead just under 5 minutes into the third period. Mark Cooper pulls the Mavs ahead by another goal as he fires a shot through the pads of the Thunder goalie. Jordan Kwas gets a close attempt at the empty netter late in the game and just narrowly misses it. The Mavs hold the score right to the end 3-1 and shots end 44-21.
