- the British government didn't take kindly to that
- BBC chairman Richard Sharp is a Tory acolyte, who once arranged a £800k loan for Boris Johnson
- the BBC dropped Lineker, which has sparked outrage given the ties of Sharp to the Tories
- pretty much everybody has since shown solidarity with Lineker
that whole episode has made for some funny moments though.
