The comment that Monahan was the centre the Flames were missing during the Iginla years is kind of interesting. I disagree with it as I don't think their styles would have meshed all that well. Maybe Monahan would have been good at depositing all the rebounds from Iggy's ridiculous shot. Monahan is many things but I would never describe him as a playmaker or possession-driver which is what I think you needed with Iginla.
Craig Conroy was a poor-man's version of those things which is why Iginla's best years (arguably) were as he played next to Connie.
