Because they never heard of him. I talk with young people and they know the big names, but don't know the new names. He needs to reach out to them more (college campus barn storming) and get his name and message out there. One of the issues that young people don't understand is the public service component of Pete's message. Then again, most people don't understand it and the value it provides. This should be an automatic win with young people. We'll let you do something related to public service for two years, then your next two years of education (vocational, college, university) are paid for. A win for communities and a win for young people looking for opportunity. Unfortunately, that message is not getting out there and the young people aren't searching out options.
