I didn't follow the 2021 draft that closely. I remember some analyst saying that Dallas got a steal drafting Stankoven two picks after we take Stromgren. Covid shortened season, so tough to get a read probably. He's puny at 5' 8".

But if anyone was to get a good read on a WHL player in Kamloops, shouldn't it be the Flames? He was great as a 17 year old in the WHL. He was drafted 5th overall into the WHL. His size hurts, but isn't that why he wasn't a 1st rounder? 2nd round picks are flyers.

It's 20/20 hindsight and the guy hasn't made it yet and maybe Stromgren does. But he is CHL player of the year? What's the edge we have in Sweden over our backyard? Maybe Loob? Honest question.

I don't want to favour picking local plugs over potential stars from other places. We need to scout internationally, but I don't think other teams should be plucking talent under our noses from junior teams close by.
