Flames 2019-2020 CHL prospects general discussion thread

Flames will most likely have 4 prospects in the CHL this season.

QMJHL
The Flames haven't drafted a forward from the QMJHL that has had impact on the NHL roster since Matthew Lombardi in the 2002 draft.

2019 1st round LW Jakob Pelletier - Moncton Wildcats
Schedule: https://moncton-wildcats.com/schedule/193/1
Stats: https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...akob-pelletier

The winger has yet to sign a NHL deal, which means that unless that changes before training camp ends, he will be sent back to junior. His linemate from last season, McKenna, has opted to go pro and joined the Flames organization. His C, Khovanov (Wild 2018 3rd round pick) was just assigned back to Montcton yesterday. Moncton also picked up G Oliver Rodrigue (Oilers 2018 2nd round pick) in a summer trade. Moncton projected to be one of the top teams in the QMJHL with Pelletier playing a big part.

2018 7th round LW/RW Dimitry Zavgorodniy - Rimouski Oceanic
Schedule: https://oceanic.qc.ca/schedule/193/18
Stats: https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...tri-zavgorodny

Had a blazing start to last season and than inexplicably the offence fell off. Inexplicable, until it was revealed that he was playing through an injury. Last year he didn't get much time with Lafreniere (consensus to go 1st overall in 2020) at even strength, but that might change this year. First game of the season saw a Lafreniere-Pare (Boston 2017 6th)-Zavgorodniy appears to be a line the Oceanic will try. Zavgorodniy is also playing to make the Russian WJC team.

OHL

With Ruzicka going pro, the Flames do not have a prospect playing in the OHL this season.

WHL

2018 4th round C Milos Roman - Vancouver Giants
Schedule: https://whl.ca/schedule/270/223
Stats: https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...44/milos-roman

The Flames rights expire on June 1st, 2020 and then he re-enters the draft. Is going to need to prove that he is worth the NHL contract.

2019 7th round G Dustin Wolf - Everett Silvertips
Schedule: https://whl.ca/schedule/270/226/all
Stats: https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...43/dustin-wolf

Wolf will try and prove the doubters that almost had him undrafted wrong. Likely going to be the backup for Team USA at the WJC
