The 4 weeks since the last check-in:
  • ASU has a 7-1-0 record in their last 8 games, with an overall record of 20-9-3. Things are looking good for the Sun Devils making it to the NCAA Tournament again this year.

Unfortunately, Koumontzis has been injured recently and hasn't played in the last 3 weeks, missing 6 games so far. He is sitting on 3G/5A in 25 games played this season.

    __________

  • MSU was off last week, so they've only played 6 games in the last 4 weeks. They have been pretty consistent recently, splitting every weekend series they've played going back to mid-December. Not-surprisingly, their overall record is nearly even at 14-13-1. Consistency is good, but splitting every series isn't doing much for their tournament chances.

Nodler has played in their last 6 games, but has no points in that time. Mattson not only got his first NCAA point on January 24, he has also been getting into the lineup on a regular basis. Nodler has 2G/4A in 27 games, and Mattson has 0G/1A in 13 games played this season.

    __________

  • Denver was off this weekend, giving them time to lick their wounds after losing both games last week to Minnesota-Duluth. The Pioneers have an impressive 17-6-5 overall record, but 3 of their losses (and one tie) have come at the hands of Minnesota-Duluth (who are the two-time defending national champions).

Pettersen continues to roll on, with 2G/2A in his last 5 games. He has 8G/17A in 28 games this season, which leads the team in points and he is tied for first on the team in assists. He has been finding the back of the net more recently as well. 5 of his 8 goals this season have come since the start of 2020 (9 games).

    __________

The regular season is winding down in the NCAA. ASU only has 4 games left; MSU has 6; and Denver has 8.

All three teams are back in action next week. ASU is hosting Alaska-Anchorage; Denver is visiting North Dakota; and MSU is playing two against their rivals from Michigan, with Friday's game being in East Lansing and another game on Monday at Little Caesars in Detroit for Presidents Day.
