For anybody that likes to filter through Best of the Year lists, the metal subreddit ran a vote recently and tabulated the results here:

And someone else went through all the various blogs and combined those results here:

Pretty rare to find anything new for me near the top of these combined lists, but it's a nice way to find a band or album I missed. They also list the subgrenre beside each album, so whether you're looking for something else specific you might like or want to hear the best in a less familiar subgenre it's convenient.
