If Smith were to suffer another major injury this season, one would have to think Rinne would be one of the guys on the radar, because we already know Rittich and Gillies are not capable of handling that workload barring some major jump forward in development.
Price is a no-go and Bobrovsky is likely a pipe dream, just like you said. Rinne might not be a bad gamble depending on the cost, even as a Cujo-type veteran backup if the Flames can fit his pro-rated cap hit into their salary structure at the TD.
