I'm kinda surprised as well. I wonder if he has a gentlemen's agreement to hold off until Marner is signed to see what the Leafs can offer.
I was looking at Capfriendly, and I'm a bit confused.
But it looks like the Leafs are sitting at 84 million so they are 3 million over the salary cap right now and still need to sign Marner who is probably in the 9 to 10 range. So if they sign him they'd be at about 94 million or 13 million over the cap.
And holy crap are they ever boned the year after this one.
Who goes to sign Marner?
