I've found some decent brioche buns at safeway that come in a 4 pack (some french company, forget the name). The size is perfect for the patties I make but tend to get pretty soft when toasting them on the BBQ. I'd like to find something a bit more dense.

I guess it's a matter of preference.
I'm a big fan of the Portuguese Rolls, for their combined chewiness and crispiness. The downsides being that no they're not overly dense and usually a bit oval. If you wanted a denser version, you could go with a ciabatta or Italian roll.
There's, however, nothing worse than a pre-packaged dried out sesame bun to ruin a burger experience. Typically anything that comes pre-cut into halves is going to be awful.
