Gio not going is a snub, but the NHL All-Star doesn't have any real prestige anyway compared to other leagues.

I'd say goalies can suffer. Players - it depends. I think Johnny thrives in them, and his play gets better because he becomes even more confident. It also keeps young guys like him from sitting on a beach and eating/drinking too much junk. Gio - I'm sure his body could use a break. He's older and more physical and he can get a holiday - plus he's the last guy I think would overindulge on a holiday.
