Cam McDonald parlayed a callup to junior hockey's big leagues into a $5,000 pay day this week.
The 19-year-old defenceman, who plays for the Amherst Ramblers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, was summoned for the Moncton Wildcats' QMJHL game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Tuesday night. En route to the arena, McDonald and Moncton forward Mark Tremaine and Ryan Penny stopped for a pre-game coffee at a local Tim Hortons.
Sure enough, when McDonald rolled up the rim -- anyone who's a fan of Timmy's knows about the annual contest, no? -- he found out he'd won a $5,000 pre-paid credit card, one of 100 such prizes given away in the contest.
