Coached him in the AHL, didn't like him so didn't play him, then years later he signed in Detroit and claims Babcock told him he'd get playing time then scratched him pretty much every night, only playing in 2 games the first 3 months of the season. According to Commodore he ended up playing him because the GM ordered him too, and he eventually got traded because the GM felt bad for him. Commodore blames Babcock for ending his NHL career, he only played a handful of games in the league after that.
Keep in mind that this is just one side of the story, I don't think Babcock has ever commented. He's not the only player to publicly trash Babcock though, I'm pretty sure Chelios isn't a fan either
