I'm watching the CNN series on him called Unmasking A Killer, which just aired in the past couple of months.
His MO focused on complete control of the crime scene, as he escalated from raping women at home alone (or with their kids), to raping women while their spouse was home, to murdering couples. At the very end of his spree, the male got loose of his bindings and it ended up with a serious struggle between GSK and the male victim. After that he's credited with one attack on a single woman, then nothing.
Gives credibility to the theory that he felt like he was losing his ability to control, so somehow was able to shut it down.
