Pretty easy rationale from me here... wanted to move DeMelo to get a cost-controlled guy in Roy who I like more. Think he's probably the Kings' best D right now.
Schmaltz is a guy I've been after for a while. I think he's unbelievably skilled and at worst is a 50-55 point centre. Rask, while playing decent hockey with Kaprizov and Zuccarello this year, is not that and I wasn't super keen on paying his RFA deal. Happy to get a top-100 pick out of it, too.
