If you can plan your trip a few months in advance, you can get good value for Aeroplan miles. For example, you can get business class return flight to Bangkok, Thailand for 125k Aeroplan miles plus $330 tax/fee. The business class return tickets worth over $6000. so you get 4-5 cents per mile.
